SAN FABIAN – Contrary to misimpressions that the town has gained control over the Philippine Tourism Authority facilities in the town, the municipal council clarified that the town mayor has not even been given authority to negotiate the transfer.

 This was revealed by Liga ng mga Barangay President Roland Villegas, reacting to reports that both the municipal government and the PTA already signed an agreement turning over the resort to the municipality of San Fabian.

He said Mayor Mojamito Libunao has not even been given authority by the municipal council to negotiate with the Philippine Tourism Authority regarding the municipal government’s plan to take over the operation and management of the PTA Resort.

The SB has yet to formulate the needed guidelines for the systematic operation and maintenance of the business to really ensure its success.

Admitting that while the turnover of the PTA resort to the municipality of San Fabian will be a big boon to the town, Villegas said it is not easy to operate and manage a resort hotel and restaurant, pointing out the need for professionals to run and manage the same.

This, he said, is the reason why the Sanggunian must take time to prepare the guidelines to ensure the viability of the venture. – A.P.E.
