Gang war downs 4 in family

VILLASIS–Members of the Celis family -two of whom were killed while two others were wounded are among the latest victims of a worsening crime wave in the province on July 14 in Barangay Barangobong here.

Police Chief Insp. Jeff Fanged, Villasis chief of police, identified the fatalities as Ferdinand Celis, 42 and his sister-in-law Nora Celis, 51, while the wounded were Nora’s husband Rolando Celis, 57, and their son Daniel, 5, all residents of of Barangobong.

Fanged said the driver of the victims’ vehicle, Richard Celis, 28, was not wounded during the attack.

The police filed on Friday a double murder case, two frustrated murder and one attempted murder against five identified suspects and two other John Does for the ambush.

Charged were Desiderio Collado, Lito Collado, Dominador Luya, Dominador Gacayan, Rogel Verosil and two John Does, all from Barangays  Amamperez and Capulaan this town.

Richard, the driver, identified the suspects whom he said all belong to a gang.

He added that it was already the sixth time they were ambushed, the fifth was in February when he was hit by a bullet in his feet.

“This is a gang war but unfortunately some innocent people were victimized,” Fanged said.

Initial police investigation shows revenge as primary motive.

The victims were on board an Isuzu Extreme vehicle on their way to a court hearing when the gunmen on board a colored white L-300 van blocked their way and fired at them.

The victims were rushed to a hospital where Ferdinand and Nora were declared dead on arrival.

Fanged told The PUNCH that Rolando is now in stable condition while the wounded five year-old suffered only minor injuries with a graze on his left arm and buttocks.

Recovered at the scene were 46 spent shells and one bullet for cal.5.56mm; 20 spent shells and one bullet for cal.45; three spent shells and two slugs for cal.9mm; and a live bullet for carbine rifle.-CSR #
