Calasiao official is assassin’s new victim
CALASIAO–Assassins riding tandem on a motor-cycle struck again. Their most recent victim was a department head of the municipal government.
Killed was Engineer Domingo Ballesteros, 48, economic enterprise officer and resident of Malabago here while he and some of his officemates were walking on their way to attend a wake Tuesday afternoon in Tesoro Street, Barangay Poblacion West here.
He sustained gunshot wounds in his right upper arm, chest and stomach from a caliber .45 pistol.
The victim was rushed to the Dagupan Doctors Hospital in Dagupan City by responding policemen but eventually succumbed while receiving treatment.
The police recovered at the crime scene three empty shells and one deformed slug.
The motive for the killing remains unknown at presstime.
Ballesteros, a former municipal engineer and officer-in-charge in the municipal administrator’s office, handled issuance of business permits and licenses.
He was also the chairman of Bids and Awards Committee that oversees the process for awarding town’s projects to bidders.
Mayor Roy Macanlalay has ordered the police to start a manhunt and apprehend those behind the official’s murder.
He, however, dismissed politics as a possible motive. #
