THE Dagupan City Fiesta 2005 earned a net revenue of P812,058 from the Mrs. Dagupan  International and from donors and sponsors.

This was disclosed by Councilor Alex de Venecia, Hermano Mayor of the Dagupan City Fiesta 2005, in his report to the media.

Specifically, the report cited a revenue of P4,595,328 from Mrs. Dagupan International 2005, donors and sponsors, and expenses of P3,738,270, resulting in a net revenue of P812,058.

De Venecia said he was also able to solicit the construction of two houses for Gawad Kalinga and accounts receivable in the amount of U.S. 7,000 dollars.

In his report, the pledges made by Vicky Brooks, U.S. 1,000 dollars; Pia Torio Galapong, U.S. 1,000 dollars; Imelda Bauzon, U.S. 1,000 dollars; and Estrellita de Venecia, U.S. 4,000 dollars are still due.

By his assessment, the city incurred minimal expenses during the 2005 City Fiesta because it was planned to be simple and frugal. For instance, he decided on hiring local talents and orchestras from Villasis, Bayambang, Binmaley and Dagupan instead of hiring talents from Manila that cost more.

Despite its limited budget, activities like medical missions, Inter-Faith Thanksgiving Prayer, motorcade, lighting of the Giant Christmas Tree, Inter-High School Dance Competition, Barangay Health Workers Day, Senior Citizens Night, lantern parade, annual teachers and employees night, Sangguniang Kabataan Night, fluvial parade, healthcare professional night, acrobat for children, fireworks display, barangay night, Gilon-gilon ed Pokok, Coronation for Mrs. Dagupan, search for the most colorful and decorated tricycle, jeepney, calesa and others were conducted.

To further save on expenses, De Venecia said he chose to stay with friends and relatives in San Diego and San Francisco, California; Chicago, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Florida and Texas while promoting the city fiesta.

He suggested to Mayor Benjamin Lim and Vice Mayor Alvin Fernandez that the Mrs. Dagupan International be held once every two years to continually promote and raise funds for Dagupan.
