FOR CITY’S DEVELOPMENT

ALAMINOS CITY – The city government is keen on fast-tracking the town’s development by planning for the effective land use in the city.

This became evident when it signed two contracts with two Manila-based companies for the development of the city’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) and the generation of orthophoto maps and other components for the city.

Mayor Hernani Braganza signed the contracts last week with F.F. Cruz & Co., Inc. (FFCCI) and Palafox & Associates, represented by Virgilio Santos, director of FFCCI’s Survey Geometrics Division, and Architect Felimon Palafox, Jr., managing partner and founder, respectively.

Mayor Braganza was recently authorized by the city council to sign the contracts to catapult Alaminos to a higher level of development and progress.

Palafox & Associates will study and recommend updates for the city’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan, Zoning Ordinance and Conceptual Development Plan with Tourism Plan.

F.F. Cruz Co., Inc. will construct the geographic database and maps of the city. Before the signing ceremony, Santos presented to the city officials some sample orthophoto maps of Metro Manila.

Braganza said the CLUP and Orthophoto maps are keys towards sustaining development, the promotion of order and safety, convenience, progress and general welfare of the people of Alaminos as well as the conservation and protection of the environment.

“Our CLUP will soon serve as our long-term policy statement that interconnects all functional and natural systems and activities in determining the future use of our lands and natural resources,” the mayor said.

Vice Mayor Teofilo  Humilde was also present during the contract  signing which was witnessed by  most of the  members of the Sangguniang  Panlungsod and department heads of  the city government.

The city’s CLUP covers five major sectors, namely; the Social Development Plan, Economic Development Plan, Physical and Land Use Development Plan, Environment Management Plan and the Institutional Development Plan.

On the other hand, orthophotos provide more vital and detailed information concerning a tract of land and the environment than conventional maps do.

The same includes zoning, value, and property ownership.

Palafox & Associates is expected to complete its work within 18 months while FFCCI is expected to commence with the performance of its generalized works within seven days from the signing of the service contract and also upon receipt of the Notice to Proceed.
