High-tech cops to be deployed in province

LINGAYEN – The province’s cops have reluctantly said their goodbyes to manual typewriters and antiquated communication systems. They have been ordered to embrace and greet the onset of information technology and advanced computers “hello”.

In time, police stations will be manned by “high-tech cops” fully conversant with software applications and internet browsing for the latest trend in information technology for a more effective law and order enforcement.

In addition to their service firearms necessary in their fight against criminality, Pangasinan policemen will continuously trained on internet technology as well.

The first batch of 56 police non-commissioned officers from various police stations in 44 towns and four cities in Pangasinan and the Provincial Mobile Group offices, recently underwent the one-on-one hands-on Internet Basic Course.

The project, a brainchild of Senior Supt. Alan Purisima, provincial Police director, was preceded by the construction of Pangasinan police’s Website (www.pnp-pangasinan.com).

The site features updated incident/reports from different police stations, accomplishment reports, communications, and announcements to the public.

With the new program, communications which used to take days to be relayed can now be accomplished on real time.

The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office also introduced the “On-line Training Course” for officers and other police personnel prepared to learn on self-study basis.–EVA
