Lim forges ahead with controversial city hospital
UNPERTURBED by opposing sectors, Mayor Benjamin S, Lim is bent on pursuing his proposed city government-run Children and Maternity Hospital in Dagupan.
Speaking before the barangay service point officer (BSPOs) in a workshop-seminar at the West Central Elementary School Friday morning, Lim announced that the Department of Education has given the green light for the city to proceed with the project.
He added that funds have been allocated for the project.
“But, with or without the P50 million, I will start with the construction of the building,” he added.
He explained that “the government collects taxes from the people so that it could effectively deliver basic services to them in return.”
“We have to make our city progressive. We have to create an environment where we have to change the mindset of the people that politics is appropriate only during election,” said Lim.
Dagupan is home to the government-owned Region 1 Medical Center and several private hospitals. (with report from CIO)
