Dagupan police wins best Community Relations award

SIX years after winning the Best Police Community Relations in the city category in the provincial, regional and national levels, the Dagupan City Police Station again clinched the honor this year.

Police Supt. Romeo Caramat Jr., city chief of police, received the plaque of recognition from Police Deputy Director General Arturo G. Cacdac, deputy chief for administration of the Philippine National Police, last July 2, at the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame during the kick-off ceremony for the 17th Police Community Relations Month celebration.

With this year’s theme “Mamamayan at Kapulisan Patuloy angUgnayan sa Higit na Ligtas, Mapayapa at Maunlad na Pamayanan,” the local police community relation programs initiated by Caramat, such as the “Pulis Mo, Ka-Text Mo,” “Kung May Krimen, I-report Mo,” and “Batang Mahirap, Edukasyon Mo Sagot Ko,” won over those of the cities of Makati, Pasay and Baguio.

According to Police Director General Nicanor A. Bartolome, PNP Director-General, the programs “have greatly enhanced the PNP’s crime prevention program in the city, especially in helping underprivileged children from committing juvenile related crimes through academic scholarships.”

Caramat expressed elation that his efforts and accomplishments on police community relations had been recognized by the PNP chain of command.

Ang mga ginawa natin ay matatawag nating beyond our duties as police officers. Ito yung tinitignan ng pamunuan ng PNP upang mapalapit sa taong-bayan,” said Caramat.

He also cited the help of the local government and other sectors to the police initiatives.

(CIO/JCB)
