1st Dagupan inter-barangay family sports events reel begin
THE first Dagupan City Inter-Barangay Council Family Basketball for Men and Volleyball for Women Tournaments, dubbed “Vice-Mayor Belen T. Fernandez Cup”, opened June 30 at The Stadia in Lucao District.
Twenty-nine of the 31 barangays in the city are participating in the games, to be held every Saturday and Sunday, with team members who are officials and employees of the city government.
The participating barangay teams of each event are divided into four groups, A B C and D. The teams in each group play a single round robin series with the top two teams advancing to the quarterfinals in which Group A’s top team meets Group C’s number 2, and Group A’s number 2 faces Group C’s number 1. The same arrangement is set for Groups B and D.
The winners in the quarterfinal games of Groups A and C and Groups B and D will slug it out in one knock-out game where the winners face each other for the championship while the losers fight for third place.
