LINGAYEN—The distribution of sets of water pumps and grass cutters continues by the provincial government continues, and the recent beneficiaries on June 26 were four municipalities.

As part of the province’s program on agricultural productivity, conservation of the environment, and to prevent the spread of dengue, each of the 17 barangays of Mangaldan, 15 in Mapandan, 73 in Malasiqui and 77 in Bayambang received one unit of water pump and one unit of grass cutter, complete with accessories.

The distribution team was led by Vice-Gov. Jose Ferdinand Calimlim Jr,. together with Liga ng mga Barangay president and Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Amadeo T. Espino, Sports Director Modesto Operana and General Service Office Chief Rolando Diaz.

To date, a total of 710 barangays from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd districts of Pangasinan has already benefitted from the provincial government’s assistance, already more than halfway to cover all the 1, 333 barangays.

True to his promise, Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr., although still on official travel to the United States from June 9to July 1, has ordered the speedy delivery of the farming equipment upon the arrival of said units, which were a bit delayed due to non-availability of supplies.

As this developed, Vice-Gov. Calimlim disclosed that in the following months, Espino will again grant office furniture to the barangays such as monobloc chairs and air-conditioning units for the barangay halls.

He said that all local government units of the province will be receiving said assistance even as he stressed that Espino wants every barangay to benefit from the government’s support.

“As a father, Gov. Espino wants all his children to have equal support,” Calimlim averred.

Towards this end, the barangay officials expressed elation over the provincial assistance as the arrival of water pumps and grass cutters is very timely and they thanked Gov. Espino and the whole of his administration.

The local chief executives of the recipient towns said the equipment will boost agricultural production and at the same time maintain the clean and green program of each barangay that will help minimize the dangers of acquiring some illnesses like dengue.

Liga president Espino, on the other hand, urged the barangay officials to work hard for the development of the province as he said “let us do our part and let us do our share.” (PIO/ADV)
