CALASIAO—Unidentified thieves broke into the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) regional office at dawn of April 23 and carted away a two-layer safety vault that contained P3,000.

Investigation showed that the thieves entered the BIR Compound by climbing over an eight foot-high concrete fence and cutting the barbed wire. Thereafter, they forcibly opened one of the sliding glass windows of the Revenue Data Center (RDC) building. They opened the Office of Soliman Dabocol, head of the RDC of the BIR Regional and District Offices, and took away the safety vault containing the petty cash.

The safety vault was later found at the Roman Catholic Cemetery just at the back of the BIR compound by the Calasiao Police. A hole was drilled on the side of the vault.
