Riofero bags bangus sculpture contest anew

JUN Rioferio, a resident of Barangay Bolosan in Dagupan, has won again the Sculpture Painting Contest of this year’s annual Bangus Festival.

This time, Rioferio’s winning entry was in collaboration with Rudy del Rosario, also from Pangasinan.

The duo’s rendition of the gilon-gilon (bangus harvest) in acrylic by airbrush bested 11 other entries.

In first runner up position was the tandem of Dex Fernandez and Raffy Napay from Manila, and in second was the team of Den Mark dela Cruz and Joeben Gamayao from Bugallon.

The contest, held April 12, involved painting a six-foot galvanized bangus sculpture.

The winning team bagged P10,000 cash prize and a trophy, while the runners up received P5,000 and P3,000 plus trophies. A P1,000 consolation prize was given to each of the other participants.

On hand to present the awards were were Mayor Benjie S. Lim and his wife Celia, Councilor and Festival Chairman Brian C. Lim, Former City Heritage Commission chair Carmen Prieto, Pangasinan Artists Guild president Paco Santos and Dagupan Artists Circle president Patrick Henry Bacolor. (CIO)
