Does the Cross mean anything? Or, is it Everything?
(A reflection on the Meaning of the Holy Cross when Ermin E. Garcia died on May 20, 1966. – by Josie F. Garcia)
On the Glory of the Cross
Condemned as a traitor,
Mocked as a mad man,
Dying as a criminal,
Is this the Will of God?
Christ was a man
and a man with a vision He was.
For He would live for that vision
and would even die for it.
But when one dies for a cause,
one doesn’t choose pain
but rather, accepts it.
In some manner Christ taught us
that Drink means Life
and to share one’s cup
means Love.
And His Cup of Drink
is not just a symbol
but reality
and complete giving
of oneself.
His prayer is His Life,
expressed in attitude
and in reaching out to others.
Whoever has a vision
of the Glory of the Cross
and lives in Life
of Love & Sacrifice,
doesn’t die in vain
but in the Light of Glory.
And as we share
with each and everyone
the merits and blessings
of our life
as Our Lord Himself did,
we form a beautiful Cross
of ourselves
in the Glory to come.
