Reward for Arcinue killers now P1.2 million
LINGAYEN—With the police apparently not getting close to solving the slaying of the Arcinue couple three weeks ago, the victims’ family is adding more money to the reward pot for anyone who can help find the killer and mastermind.
The Arcinue family promised an additional P200,000 to the combined P1 million earlier committed by Governor Amado Espino Jr. (P500,000), the municipal government of Lingayen through Mayor Ernesto Castaneda (P300,000), and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (P200,000).
“The intention of this body is to give any person who knows anything about the killing to divulge it (to authorities) so that truth will come out and justice would be served,” Calimlim said.
Board Member John Christopher Arcinue, representing the youth sector as president of the Provincial Sangguniang Kabataan Federation in Pangasinan and grandson of the Arcinue couple, thanked his fellow board members for their support.
Second district Board Member Von Mark Mendoza moved for the approval of a separate resolution condoling with the bereaved family.
“Tension, anger and fear are still haunting us,” Mendoza said as he called on authorities to work harder.
The investigation of the case is being spearheaded by the Manila Police Department with the Pangasinan Police Office providing assistance.
The double murder of former Lingayen Vice Mayor Ramon Arcinue and his wife, Zorahayda, barangay captain of Poblacion, Lingayen, happened on the night of March 7 at Maceda Street in Sampaloc, Manila.
The Arcinues survived an earlier assassination attempt on March 4, 2011 in Barangay Biec, Binmaley.
The suspect who was charged for double frustrated homicide was later released when the case filed against him was dismissed for insufficiency of evidence.
At presstime, Police Provincial Director Rosueto Ricaforte is set to update local media on his statement last week announcing the expected arrest of the suspect.—with report from Eva Visperas
