Espino lauds San Diego medical volunteers
LINGAYEN—A team of 60 Filipino volunteers composed of medical health practitioners from Pangasinan and in San Diego, California received a salute from Governor Amado Espino Jr. for conducting a medical and dental mission in Labrador recently.
In a fellowship and dinner party tendered by the provincial chief executive and his wife Mrs. Prescilla Espino at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center here, Espino lauded the Paradise Valley International Medical Mission for their service to the people of Pangasinan.
“It is an inspiration for Pangasinenses especially those from Labrador town that the international mission group came to the province to render free medical services,” Espino said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ben Camacho, medical director of the mission and also the president of the Philippine Medical Association (PMA) of San Diego, said the mission group, teamed up with PMA and the activity in Labrador is the 4th leg of their works around the country after coming from Davao, Castillejos and Olongapo.
Camacho, brother of Labrador Mayor Ricardo Camacho, said his group intends to bring the services to other parts of Pangasinan.
Among the services offered were minor surgeries like abscess, incision and circumcision aside from free dental consultations and other surgical procedures.
“We are looking forward to go to other places para makatulong kami sa maraming Pangasinenses which is a way of giving back to our provincemates,” Camacho said.
As this developed, Espino reiterated that Pangasinan has one of the best hospital and health care services in the country.
He noted that the province remains the best in Region 1 for health care coverage through the Philippine Health Insurance.
