Lawmen seize firearms, ammunition cache
LINGAYEN–Lawmen scored big in their campaign against loose firearms when they seized a cache of firearms and ammunition in a raid of the house of a suspected leader of a notorious criminal syndicate last March 1 in Barangay Dilan, Pozorrubio.
The raid at the house of Joel Manong, 35, was conducted by a composite team of the Special Operations Group (SOG), Provincial Intelligence Branch, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and Pozorrubio Police, led by Superintendent Ronald Gayo, SOG group director.
Manong was tagged as the suspected leader of a notorious robbery group operating in the province, particularly within 4th and 5th districts.
The raid was covered by a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Renato Pinlac of Branch 57 in San Carlos City.
The operation resulted in the seizure of one Caliber 9 millimeter pistol, one Magnum pistol, one rifle grenade, one fragmentation grenade, two magazines for 9 mm. pistol, four rounds of live ammunition for Cal 9 mm. pistol, one round for Caliber 40, one ammunition for Caliber 40, one ammunition for carbine rifle, four live ammunition for Cal 357, one live ammunition for 12 gauge shotgun, 21 live ammunition for Cal 45 pistol, a magazine for Caliber 45, and three M16 Rifle Airsoft, all without permit.
Also confiscated were one motorcycle Fury and one unit of Charadesedan which are subject for verification before the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
Appropriate criminal charges against Manong are now being readied by the police.
