Paranaque shootout victims buried in Bayambang

BAYAMBANG—The father and daughter who died in the December 5 shootout between the police and a criminal group in Paranaque City were buried on December14 at a public cemetery here.

Hundreds of relatives and friends of Marine Engr. Alfonso de Vera, 51, and his only daughter, Lia Allana, 7, gathered as the two were laid to their final resting place.

De Vera was a native of Basista.

Dante Jimenez, chairman of the Volunteers Against Crimes and Corruption (VACC), and National Capital Region Police Office Chief Director Leopoldo Bataoil also attended the mass for the father and daughter at the Catholic Church in nearby Basista town.

De Vera’s widow, Lilian, and their family are demanding justice for the violent deaths.

Bataoil gave the assurance that the police investigation intends to uncover the truth on the controversial shootout and will give justice to the ’deaths.

Bataoil added that the Internal Affairs Service (IAS) of the PNP, the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), the National Bureau of Investigation(NBI), and the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) are conducting parallel investigations.–CSR
