PANGASINAN Merchant Marine Academy (PAMMA) Sea Lions will collide with AIE-College Golden Eagles in the best-of-three championship series of the Inter-Collegiate Invitational Basketball Championship of the 3rd Jimmy Fernandez Cup on Monday at the DWAD Gym.

PAMMA and AIE-C earned the championship berths after notching the first and second top spots, respectively, after the double round robin eliminations.

Both squads registered a 1 win and 1 loss card each.

In their first meeting on February 6, the Sea Lions prevailed over the Golden Eagles, 96-93; while the latter edged the former, 75-74, in their second encounter on February 15.

Meanwhile, University of Luzon Golden Tigers will square off with dethroned champion University of Eastern Pangasinan Patriots in a knockout game for third place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, after which minor awards will be presented to outstanding players.

The second game of the championship series will be played on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.

The team that bags the championship will represent its school and Region I in the Men’s National Collegiate Athletic Association Basketball Championship slated on March 27- April 1 in Naga City.–Philamer C. Celi
