More entrepreneurs seen
“I CAN now put up a small business,” says Josie Douie from Mayombo, a participant in livelihood training and skills seminar, who is now considering starting a home-based fish processing operation.
More than 250 participants received additional training in entrepreneurship when the Dagupan City Fiesta Executive Committee and the Inner Wheel Club of Dagupan jointly conducted a livelihood and skills training at the Malimgas Market on December 10.
Fresh flower arrangement, fish processing, balloon making and modern ‘hilot’ and herbal care demonstrations were conducted by expert trainers from the Technology and Resource Center (TRC).
Councilor Alfie Fernandez, city fiesta hermano mayor, said the city has been providing seminars and training opportunities to “create entrepreneurs out of ordinary people”.
“We want to help them improve their economic condition by encouraging them build their own businesses, and trainings like this will be an important stepping stone,” Fernandez said.
Aside from learning skills from the livelihood training and seminar, participants were given tips on where they can source materials, how to calculate expenses and mark-up costs of finished products, and eventually how to price their products.#
