Public warned vs. fake solicitors

AS preparations for Dagupan’s fiesta next month steps up, City administrator Alvin Fernandez warned the public against impostors soliciting donations to support alleged fundraising projects of the city government.

Fernandez said reports have reached him that some individuals posing as employees of the city’s Waste Management Division solicited donations for Christmas parties and for supposed medical bills of their children confined in hospitals.

He stressed the city government has not authorized any of its employees to request or solicit funds for its Christmas celebrations or any related activities.

Councilor Alfie Fernandez, this year’s hermano mayor, also cautioned the general public against racketeering schemes invoking fiesta activities. He urged those being approached to verify such requests directly with any member of the Dagupan City Fiesta Executive Committee.

City administrator Fernandez advised residents to report such solicitations to the Dagupan City Citizen Helpline 523-0324.#
