Pangasinan is still one of RP’s most peaceful
LINGAYEN–The province of Pangasinan remains one of the most peaceful provinces in the whole country, averaging only 6.9 per cent monthly crime rate from January to September.
This was the assessment of Police Provincial Director Percival Barba who said that Pangasinan’s monthly crime rate is one of the lowest in the entire country.
Barba succeeded P/Sr. Supt. Isagani Nerez as police provincial director of Pangasinan last month.
He said the National Capital Region’s monthly crime rate averages 17 per cent, while Pangasinan with its thick population registers only an average monthly crime rate of 6.9 per cent, considered one of the lowest in the country.
And even as the province’s crime rate is one lowest in the entire country, the crime solution efficiency of the police is also high at 92 per cent, Barba said.
He said most of the reported crimes were petty crimes, many of which resulted from quarrels among neighbors and crimes against property owing to poverty, i.e., shoplifting, in malls.
Pangasinan was tagged by the Department of Social Welfare and Development as the poorest province in Region I and one of the 20 poorest provinces in the whole country.-LM
