Dagupan gets quality management certificate
DAGUPAN City has passed the international quality management certification standards based on evaluations conducted by the United Kingdom-based Certification International Philippines Inc. and the Government Quality Management Committee.
For this, President Benigno Aquino III presented a plaque of recognition to Mayor Benjamin Lim and One-Stop Business Center (OSBC) Head Carmen Olpindo in a ceremony held Tuesday at the Malacañang Palace.
The selection was conducted pursuant to Executive Order (EO) No. 605 s. 2007 enjoining local government units and other government-affiliated agencies to upgrade management schemes.
The Business Permit Processing and Issuance-Quality Management System (BPPI-QMS) of the city was previously granted the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 9001:2008 certification in May 5, 2010.
The ISO 9001:2008 is given to an organization that consistently provides satisfactory service to clientele by applying statutory and regulatory requirements through a concrete and effective QMS.
Monette Mondala, city treasury operation officer, who served as the internal quality audit team leader during the accreditation process, said the city complied with all the requirements set and passed the rounds of scheduled audits by the certifying body to qualify for the organizational review.
Mondala said the certification is not only a tool that addresses graft and corruption issues through elimination of red tape, but also serves as an incentive to prospective investors. (CIO)
