SMALL and medium enterprises (SMEs) participating at the Panangidayew Trade Fair in October will have an opportunity to position their products in the international market

The trade fair, which will be held at the Market! Market! in Taguig City, Metro Manila, is being organized by the provincial office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to showcase the province’s goods.

“The purpose of the trade fair is to expose Pangasinan products both in the local and international markets,” said Peter Mangabat, DTI provincial director

Mangabat said majority of the products from Pangasinan are only marketed locally and they hope to help the SMEs expand their market globally.

He is optimistic that many of today’s products have better chances of breaking into the international market, especially after the SMEs participated in the DTI’s trainings and seminars designed by the Product Development and Design Center of the Philippines to improve product labeling and packaging.

Other trainings were also held to improve product handling and production processes.

The DTI is also trying to help SMEs find financial sources for expansion.

Mangabat said trade fairs are good opportunities for evaluating demand and preference for the different products.—CSR
