JDV shrugs off House politics
“I HAVE no time for treacherous shenanigans.”
Fourth District Rep. Jose de Venecia Jr. made this statement as he rebuffed rumors that he is among those behind the rumored ouster of his successor in the top congressional seat, House Speaker House Speaker Prospero Nograles.
“They’re seeing ghosts,” he said of his accusers, adding, “They should look at themselves at the mirror”.
De Venecia was driven out from the House speakership earlier this year, a post he held the longest in Philippine history, following a falling out with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, his long-time political ally.
In a telephone interview with The PUNCH, De Venecia, founder and head of the Christian Muslim Democrats party, said he has just come back from a speaking engagement in Mongolia and has similar pending invitations in Afghanistan and in Cagayan de Oro.
“I have no time to take part in that oust move,” said the former Speaker even as he described his relationship with Nograles as “normal diplomatic relations”.
“Akala ko ba they are very strong?,” De Venecia said with a laugh.#
