SOME 1,000 residents among Dagupan City’s urban poor were given free tooth extraction courtesy of “Libreng Bunot” dental mission sponsored by the city government last Sunday.

Vice Mayor Fernandez, whose own CSI Group of Companies co-sponsored the dental mission, said the dental mission was organized to help the city’s urban poor who cannot afford to have their defective teeth extracted.

Considered as the biggest dental mission held yet in Dagupan City this year, the mission participated in by 61 dentists from the co-sponsors Philippine Dental Society, Pangasinan chapter headed by Dr. Lucy Honrado; 21 dentists from the Manila-based Charity First Foundation, Inc. headed by Richard So; and dentists from the Philippine Army at Camp Tito Abat in Manaoag.

Councilor Alfie Fernandez, a dentist and son of Mayor Fernandez, led local dentists who volunteered in the dental mission held at the Dagupan City People’s Astrodome.

The medicines were provided by the city government.

“We are happy because very prominent dentists from nearly all parts of the country found time to lend their service to our people in Dagupan City,” Vice Mayor Fernandez said.

According to the vice mayor, another dental mission will be organized before the end of the year in order to serve more Dagupeños who failed to take advantage of the last mission.

Officers and members of the Rotary Club of Uptown Dagupan and the City Health Office were on hand to assist in administering other health services.
