Seven tourist buses arrive to spur local tourism
LINGAYEN—Tourism promotion in Pangasinan gets a big boost with the recent delivery of a fleet of brand new tourist buses ordered by the provincial government for its use to promote local tourism.
Delivered were six buses and one coaster that will be made available for the shuttling of local tourists to the different tourism destinations around the province.
Seven more buses are expected to arrive to provide shuttle service for capitol employees.
The seven tourist buses will be reserved mainly for students, teachers, municipal officials, barangay leaders joining ‘Lakbay Aral’ (educational tours) to various eco-tourism destinations in Pangasinan.
The educational tour will start at the provincial capitol showcasing the newly renovated government buildings and the Lingayen beach.
“We will make Pangasinan a primary tourism destination among ourselves first. I want Pangasinenses to rediscover and know more about Pangasinan.” Espino said in a press conference.
The governor said that Pangasinan is such a big province with 2.6 million population, stressing that the Pangasineses alone comprise a big market.
The seven eco-tourism buses and coaster were turned over to Gov. Amado Espino, Jr. by Phil-Hino Corp.
The buses sport a spanking golden yellow outlined by metallic gold. These are the colors used in all newly-refurbished and renovated buildings inside the provincial capitol complex and other projects of the provincial government.
In preparation for a massive tourism campaign, the provincial government has trained over 50 new tour guides.
Governor Espino believes that the Capitol building and its environs, which include the Maramba Boulevard, the World War II Memorial and the Lingayen Beach, will become the centerpiece of tourism in Pangasinan.
He said in his recent State of the Province Address that tourism will become one of the top earners in the province.—LM
