SAN FABIAN–An Austrian national was arrested by the police on Thursday night for allegedly shooting and killing his Filipina wife in a fit of jealousy inside the family-owned Your Love Beach Resort in barangay Nibaliw Magliba here.

A case of parricide is now being readied against Gernott Roland Peter, 49, a resident of the barangay, who was tagged by his own two sons, three and five year old boys, of shooting their mother, Aileen Matug-og Peter, 33.

The shooting incident happened just outside the family’s cottage in the middle of another altercation between the couple which reportedly was frequent.

Peter denied the crime but his own sons told investigators they saw their father shoot their mother point blank with a hand gun.

The police learned that the suspect and the victim were frequently quarrelling in their bedroom as he suspected that his wife was having an affair.

At about 9:30 p.m. on the day of the killing, the couple argued again inside their bedroom when Peter, who was heavily drunk, confronted his wife as to why she was always out.

To avoid being beaten again by her husband, Mrs. Peter reportedly rushed out of their cottage but the suspect followed her allegedly with a handgun and shot her, hitting her on the temple.

After shooting his wife, Peter allegedly went back to the beach and asked their maid for help as his wife was shot by someone who escaped. He claimed he did not know the person.

But his two sons came forward and volunteered the information that they saw their father shoot their mother.

The firearm used in the killing, however, is missing.—CSR
