Sec. Duque keynotes NL child care confab Aug. 22
Health Secretary Francisco Duque III will address the 1st North Luzon Child Care Development Convention on August 22 at the Jimmy L. Fernandez Center Stadia here.
Recently cited by the prestigious US-based Save the Children Organization for garnering the highest points in the delivery of healthcare to children, the DOH, under Secretary Duque in collaboration with Medialink and other government and private agencies, seeks to enlighten the public on child behavior such as autism, cognitive and motor delays, behavioral and learning disabilities, ADHD and how to deal with these concerns.
An array of child care experts led by Dr. Mary Ann Prudencio will address the symposium.
Kharmina Velasco, events chairman, said the symposium seeks to empower the front liners particularly on child care.
Documented research claims that autism cases have proliferated throughout the world affecting people from all socioeconomic classes.
Christopher Navalta, symposium secretariat, said it is important for parents, medical practitioners, professionals and the academe to attend the convention because issues related to autism have to be confronted for the benefit of children afflicted with it.
Other groups that have signified their participation in the symposium are the Pangasinan Association of Caregiver Training Institutions (PACTI), the University of Pangasinan, LORMA Colleges, Don Mariano Marcos State University, Virgen Milagrosa University, Lyceum Northwestern University, Polytechnic College of La Union, Colegio de Dagupan, St. Augustine School of Nursing, Nazareth School of Nursing, OBC Training & Assessment Center, Precious Minds, Living Lights Learning Center, Instituto Centro Asia and many more.
The symposium is supported by the Departments of Education, Commission on Higher Education, TESDA, PACTI and the cities of Dagupan, San Carlos, Urdaneta, Alaminos, San Fernando, Baguio and Laoag. #
