Coca-Cola holds Employee Volunteer Day 2008

SOME 60 Coca-Cola System employees took part in the Coca-Cola System Employee Volunteer Day (EVD) last June 9 at the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) grounds in Teresa, Rizal.

This year’s EVD was aimed at helping the environment and the community by planting 400 saplings of mahogany, acacia and fire trees and was part of the collaboration between Coca-Cola and the BSP for the nationwide tree planting project dubbed Go Green! Go for the Real Thing! Hundreds of Boy Scouts helped in the tree planting activity.

The planted seeds will be nurtured by the BSP to ensure that they will reach maturity.

McDonald’s provided the breakfast and lunch of the participants.

BSP national president and Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay commended Coca-Cola for its passion in saving the environment.

Also present at the event were Teresa, Rizal Vice Mayor Raul Palino and Coca-Cola VP for Public Affairs and Communications JB Baylon, Coca-Cola Tigers Kenneth Duremdes and Gerard Francisco who all got down on their knees to plant trees with everybody else.
