Bernie:

I agree with you to a large extent. The OFW situation is a national tragedy…corruption is a disgrace…moral decadence that signifies a destitute society…prevalent poverty and hopelessness…negativism about the Philippines seems to be endless…you can start writing a list of ills about our country in the morning and still won’t be done even until after the cows are home.

However, there are good things that can be accentuated about the Philippines…its natural archipelagic beauty; the goodness of its people, the remaining credible, morally and ethically upright people; uniqueness of its mixed culture; rich heritage and traditions; its mouth watering food and abundance of natural resources to name a few.

Please don’t get me wrong I am in no way advocating that ills about the Philippines be swept under the rug and just emphasize on the positive things. I believe these should all be brought out to the open… have those responsible pay for their wicked deeds… if I had my way…there will be people that will be skinned alive and probably about 50% of at least one generation needs to be eliminated for causing all these misery and suffering on majority of the Filipino people. But let’s be real now…what I just described can’t happen and should not happen without due process because of the value of life, we are civilized people and have to abide by the rule of law and principles of democracy.

I am looking forward though to the day of moral and ethical transformation in its people in the hopes that it will get the Philippines out of the miry and sinking ground it is in. Hopefully, it will happen in my lifetime…may be wishful thinking but will remain optimistic. So, regardless I am PROUD of my FILIPINO HERITAGE and the PHILIPPINES in general.
