Are you running for ‘Kupitan?’

By Gonzalo Duque

MARAMI ang impressed sa skyrocketing trend of business in Dagupan.

Kitang-kita ng lahat ang naglalabasang malls at supermarkets sa ating ciudad.

And Mayor Belen Fernandez is getting all the praises for it.

You and us know that she is in the mall business, as overseer of CSI, but she does not block the phenomena… bagkus, she is encouraging the flowering of more of those things.

Yan ang lider, democratic, fair, business-friendly, pro-progress.

The time will come Mayor Belen will go down in Dagupan’s history, as the author of the malls phenomena!

Ang akala ng marami, she will put her foot down on new malls. No, not at all.

Palakpakan natin si mayora!

Hmmm… another SM was inaugurated in Urdaneta City last Friday.

Ay, oo nga, the soon-to-be finished SM along M.H. del Pilar (formerly Pantranco) is a case in point.

Let’s celebrate! And view these developments as inevitable march of progress.

Ang problema ay ang epekto nito sa trapik. Oo nga. But kasama yan sa progreso ng lugar. It’s up to our city planners to do something about this.

As they say, we can’t stop progress. Because if we do, magkaka-rebolusyon!

Ang dapat, gagawa tayo ng contingency to oversee this progress spurt.

                  May mga expert diyan.

Suddenly our local governments are alive!!! Eleksyon na naman, kasi eh.

It’s our dream that our local government units are models of democratic exercise. Sana, sana…

But in spite of having a very democratic government under President Digong, mayroon pa ring mga kontrabida.

We seem to have been stacked in the crime of graft and corruption.

But the good news is, mga 60% na ang nawala. The ideal, the aim of the Duterte government is a perfect Democracy, or at least 90 to 95 percent performance. There will always be kontrabidas—but they are a vanishing breed.

We all doff our hats to the President.

Tunay na lider talaga… hindi korap, determined, heroic, maka-masa, maka-progreso.

Gone are the days—or at least, they are going—where Kapitan would be spelled “KUPITAN.”

Nakakahiya, nakakasuka… sana, and we ask everyone to assiduously work for this, sana, mag going straight na ang mga opisyales natin para tunay nauunlad na ang Pinas.

Sayang ang oportunidad… sayang ang ating covenant with progress and greatness.

Mabuhay kayo!

The Pangasinan Press Club flag should be at “half-mast” due to the death of former DWPR anchorman Joey Ballesteros passing. He was 65. Careful, mga kapatid.
