Pangasinan should be top priority

By Atty. Gonzalo Duque

IT’S becoming clear that the communications network is becoming a most influential power center anywhere.

This view became a point of interest during PCCO Secretary Martin Andanar’s visit to Dagupan and the province a few months back.

We then had a most rewarding time with him, as we dwelt at the importance of PTV-4’s growing presence and impact hereabouts.

We intimated the idea to Cong. Amado “Spines” Espino who readily showed great interest in housing the facility in the province.

Well, being our former governor and father of incumbent governor Pogi, Spines could always talk about media as a source of developmental power with authority.

The subject is fast becoming a reality in our midst. Nagpagawa na ata sila ng satellite station sa Dagupan at Alaminos e, with newly purchased modern equipment, TV vans, etc.

If done, Secretary Andanar’s office in Manila would be able to send messages pronto to the province at the click of the finger.

Let’s go for it, fellas!

Another positive news for the benefit of our provincemates is about a new processing center for the SSS to be located hereabouts.

It used to be that SSS applicants had to go to Tarlac City to follow up their claims and benefits. Maybe, that old reality must have delighted P-Noy no end, but not us, Pangasinenses.

With the TPLEX phenomenon and the unprecedented increase of population up north, with more reason that an SSS processing center be put up here soonest.

Ha?? Somebody patted us… “why are you thinking parochial? Why corner the goodies in Pangasinan? Hindi ba, we are now a global village?”

Agreed! But, you see, as the sages would say, charity begins at home.

It has been our policy as a public official and even as a Pangasinense to see to it that our own milieu – Pangasinan – be atop the universe at all times.

May masama ba ron?

We pushed for PhilHealth’s regional office in Dagupan, did you know that? It might be moved to Calasiao soon.  So be it, so the vacated place which belongs to LNU would be earmarked for new labs or classrooms as our college of medicine is expanding.

Our point has always been up, up with Pangasinan! Ok ba?

Jun Velasco has called our attention to our alleged overstaying as Pangasinan Press Club president.

Ha?

Wala namang nagko-complain eh…. but anyways, there are brods and sis in the club who are clamoring for sis-in-law Mita Duque to be the club’s next leader.

Ok yon, di ba Orly Navarro? Best friend natin yan ha?

So long as she wants it.  What’s important is she has the time, the energy and interest. Gaganda uli ang image ng club – away from its once not-so-nice reputation as akin to pit-pit!

About time siguro ah, Pare Orly?  We suggest we hold a meeting soonest to tackle this.

Merry Christmas!
