More revamp in gov’t up

By Gonzalo Duque

WE were in the Ilocos while we wrote this column.

Yes, part of our job at the SSS. It’s fun, exhilarating to hobnob with hoi poloi, mind you.

One plus you get in government service is the knowledge of helping others. Alam ito ng mga public servants.

Other centered-ness, in case you forget, is the best health therapy in life. Bakit kaya? Ask the health therapists, they know.

By the way, while supervising the opening of a service office at Robinson, San Nicolas, we had a chance to get the Ilocanos’ feel of the Duterte government. It’s fantastic! The kailian love Digong! Hmm, natural, kanyo, kasi mahal siya ng mga Marcoses. But no, the hoi poloi we talked to knew what to say.

They cited the Marawi war success, the drug campaign, the anti corruption drive, and anti pang hihimasok sa mga dayuhan, alam ng mga masa sa Ilokandia.

The art, the task of government is a complex one, but our Pangulo seems to be successfully simplifying the job. Kasi, he is simply honest and to the point. Kaya effective ang bosing.

Ang tunay na lider, pare ko, ay simply gumalaw. Walang itinatago, hindi nag do-double talk, kaya may nasasaktan. We believe, there will be a continuous revamp in the government. Maaalis ang mga pretender, double-kara, mga corrupt, remember the warning.

In the Duterte school of leadership, walang artehan, walang double talk, you get what you see and say, hence, government is powerful, effective.

The City agriculture office was directed by Mayor Belen Fernandez to conduct a feasibility study on the establishment of an exclusive trading place where local bangus growers can exclusively market or trade their Dagupan bangus to get a better price for their commodity.

“Iba ang Dagupan bangus kaya dapat magkaroon ito ng presyo, which is different sa ibang bangus growers outside of the city.”

BTF is considering the putting up of a harvest to pay scheme for small fisher folks in the city with a marketing plan that will be designed by the city, to help them sell their products at better prices.

Mayor Belen met with Jumnun Sudtrong, vice president of Charoen Pokphand Foods Philippines Corporation, A Thailand company based in the country engaged in fish feed sales, when the latter visited the city on October 9.

Sudtrong’s visit to the city was the result of Mayor Belen’s talk with Thailand Ambassador to the Philippines Thanatip Upatising who visited the city last September 8 where the latter promised to send one of their experts to help the city upgrade its aquaculture industry.
