Mayor Belen and the Muslims

By Gonzalo Duque

LAST Thursday, Mayor Belen Fernandez and the leaders of the local Muslims sent off a truckload of relief goods for Marawi City.

It’s ironical that there were Muslims seen shouting at the City Hall rally at the city plaza a week ago.

Ano ba ito, Mam Belen, tupaken da kayoy bato, say ibales yo balet tinapay?

A closer look showed that some four or five Muslims at the rally belong to the discredited faction, says PIMA president Guia Macmod.

“Accidental politician” ang tawag niya sa kanyang public life, encouraged by the late Sen. Letty Shahani, Speaker JdV and former mayor Al.

“Nang una, nanginginig akong mag-diskurso,” says mayora, but she got along all right, as time went by.

Though business is her won’t or obsession, Belen found out later that public service is more ennobling and engaging. Also, satisfying, she added.

We salute Mayor Belen for her growth and metamorphosis as a leader. Other-centered. Maka tao, makamasa, at how she loves children!

Ang mga tumutulisa sa kanyang new city hall project ay mga bulag sa pangangailangan ng mga Dagupeno, ni pinagtaksilan na tayo ng panahon, our neighbors have better and more beautiful presidencia!

Maging responsible naman sana ang mga detractors. In all angles, panalo ang maka bagong city hall! Ibasura so kadaanan tan kakipotay utek! Mabuhay, modern Dagupan! Mabuhay ang Progresibong ciudad!

Condolence to the Lagao family on the passing away of Juanito “Ani” Lagao, 77, who died the other day. Let’s pray for the repose of his soul!

Notes: We should not focus on how many times we feel worthless, unloved, left behind and cheated.

Instead, think of how many times we stood up, took the courage to let go, move on and live again.

Life is about balance. Be kind but don’t let people use us. Trust but don’t get deceived.

Be contented but let us never stop improving for God’s glory. God bless you.
