Dr. Pingkoy is GSIS chairman

By Gonzalo Duque

IT’S something of a noble privilege.

People congratulated us for our appointment as SSS commissioner two months ago.

Thank you, President Digong!

And thanks for your congratulations.

But here’s a louder THANK YOU: President Digong very recently named brod Pingkoy chairman of GSIS He will take his oath on Feb. 28.

Like we said, it’s a privilege to serve under President Digong.

He is a great president with the noblest intentions.

Pingkoy’s entry to the GSIS brings with it his wisdom and experience in government service… his shining excellence during his presidency of PhilHealth, multi awarded  secretaryship of the Department of Health,  and exemplary chairmanship of the Civil Service Commission.

He, too, was top honcho of the International Solidarity for Asian Governance — an assessment school for governance better than the ISO.

We’ve been asked our stand on the Death Penalty.

We are for it.

This does not mean we are violating God’s commandment, Bishop Soc.

Advocating a death penalty on specific crimes is in accordance with the law.

It really all depends on the circumstances.

If the crime is committed by a rich man or a police officer, chances are, the death penalty should be recommended.

If a poor litigant, we make a rethink.

Oh yes, there are certain states in the US which approve of the death penalty.

Malaysia, Indonesia and other countries always have a provision of Death Penalty.

How about the drug lord or pusher?  With more reason, the law should be applied. Yes to plunder, too.

Many have asked us, too, if we are a member of the Les Talliones fraternity.

No, we are not; we are with Lamda Rho.

What did you say, Molly, Milliones fraternity? We want to say this: being a member of this and that fraternity, makes no difference. There are bad eggs as well good eggs in any group.

Did you notice that Senator Trillanes becomes a “bold star” whenever he arrives from a trip abroad.

Bakit kaya? Baka nagkaron na naman ng pang-gasolina. He always attacks and attacks President Digong.

There is a lesson in attacking a person in case you don’t know. The attack dog is usually a bad boy, attack for hire.

Men in the arts of Dagupan.

Did you know that avant garde Rex Catubig is the composer of the Dagupan hymn? An arts and letters graduate at UST, he is one of the moving spirit of cultural and artistic movement in the city.

By the way, salute Eppie Rafanan, the man behind the more than 200 ways of cooking bangus.

Salute too, well-known artist Alex Villaflor for his efforts in changing the logo of Dagupan by actually restoring the old one.

Paano naman itong bagong logo na iginawa noong administration ni Mayor Benjie Lim, ang naka-focus ay bangus, hindi ang Dagupeno.

These thoughts came to mind during the city’s national arts month. Congratulations, Mayor Belen for your progressive and “artistic” governance.
