A white lady walks unmolested

By Gonzalo Duque

CLOSE to midnight one night, we were passing Bonuan Gueset road with a friend.

We encountered a not-so-ordinary sight: a white lady, or a nurse, walking towards the Tondaligan Highway junction.

Please take note the time, 11:45 p.m.!

Our companion said, “Bossing, matapang ang nars na yan, naglalakad mag-isa  sa ganitong oras! Kandidatong ma-rape yan!”

We couldn’t blame our companion. Last or a couple of years back, a woman was raped and killed in a subdivision in Bonuan Boquig. Then there was this account in another subdivision in Bonuan Gueset where a lady from Bayambang, Pangasinan visited her boyfriend. Returning home, she was beaten by a would-be rapist. Would it not for the timely arrival of a tanod, the woman would either have been raped or killed.

She survived; was wounded, but not fatal. The would-be rapist-killer was arrested and jailed.

Things like these have, thank God!, are  no longer happening, or if they still do, they happen rarely.

What happened?

Simple. Because of President Digong’s successful anti-drugs, anti-crime campaign.

We have many friends who were not pro-Duterte because of his sharp tongue.  They are now thankful and loyal Duterte fans.  Because he has brought back peace and order in our community. The drug pushers and addicts are gone, thank the Lord! Gone? Well, about 95 percent, says Colonel Neil Miro.

Everyone knows that 95 percent of killings, rapes, robbery, burglaries come from deranged minds brought about by prohibited drugs.

Now, Linda (Linda was hard to convince before to go for President Duterte) you understand why President Digong still enjoys 83% acceptability ratings from the latest Pulse Asia survey.

As an institution, the Social Security System has served millions of Filipino families since its establishment.

The agency has been thrust into the headlines because of President Duterte’s directive to go the extra mile so that SSS members would be happy.

It is our good fortune to have a compassionate president Digong and SSS chair Amado Valdez, a kababayan from San Manuel, implementing the agency’s pro-people policies.

In our last visit to the SSS Dagupan office, we emphasized the need for prompt and pro-member policies.

As every Filipino now is finding to his delight, nagno-normalize na ang mga dating dysfunctional, obsolete, anachronistic operations ng mga government agencies because we have a President who actually delivers and cares.

It was a sight to treasure and behold! The wedding of our son Gonzalito Niccolo and the love of his life, Kristel Ann tying the marital knot at the San Jose Church in Mandaluyong on January 8 (reception at Dusit Hotel).

Our great friend, President Digong Roa Duterte, and former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Mayor Belen Fernandez, the great MVP (Manny V Pangilinan), our sisters Nieva, Grace, Luz D. Hammershaimb who all came from the US, Kuya Cesar, former DoH Sec. and former CSC chair Pincoy, Mr. James Gaisano, CB Deputy Gov. Nestor Espenilla, Dr. Ruby Arambulo-San Juan, Mr. Victorio Vargas, Atty. Ma Teresa Manansala- Sicat, Atty. Romariem Villongco, Mrs. Pat Yaptinchay Arambulo, and Dr. Maria Rossana Arambulo Sanchez gave our family another milestone reason to glorify the Lord for all the blessings.

With our most beloved Ruth, as usual, tirelessly and constantly by our side, we boundlessly thank our Lord Almighty for His unceasing blessings! We couldn’t help hum that lovely song in The Sound of Music sung by Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, “I Must Have Done Something Good.”

To God be the Glory!
