Digong is loved by many, hated by a few

By Gonzalo Duque

WE missed that big birthday party for former Speaker JdV!

Paano naman, Dagupan fiesta eh!

We have it on good authority that the speech he delivered on his birthday bash was so far his best, like it was a synopsis of the best performance of his life.

Belated happy birthday, Manong Joe.

Better believe it, we fought twice in the congressional race, and we lost twice!

The brickbats were there, the mudslinging, the attacks, etcetera.

They were part of the game called politics, but they were gone and forgotten now as fast as they came.

We have something for you, dear reader — huag kayong pikon.

We always say, ang pikon ay talo!

We want to be a winner, so down with pikonitis!

It’s a good reminder for the New Year!

Happy new year!

O yes, si Pangulo… did you get it at CNN lately? Digong is one of the most admired worldwide!

Ok, marami pa sa atin and hindi maka-adjust.

Hiyang tayo sa kanyang bad mouth.

But that’s precisely why he is loved, admired, idolized.

Ask CNN, now the most trusted TV channel in the country.

They couldn’t help it, they had to tell the whole world that in here in this Pearl of the Orient is a man they call Digong, na dumadagundong.

Mahal suya ng tao, but hated by a few, a very pathetic few.

You ought to know what the Good Book has to say about leaders.

It’s not they who come in nice clothes, gifted with sweet a tongue, suave behavior, but they who talk dirty, use the dirty hands, who work on the ground, speak the language of fools, of sinners, wear shabby clothing…

But mind you, they are the chosen ones.

Need we tell you about the Pharisees and Sadducees?

Digong speaks the truth.

His words dazzle because they are true; not like the golden tongue who mesmerizes but is soon discovered.

As we appoach the new year, let’s bear in mind the counsel of the old, the sage and the little children.

Huag magsinungaling, magpakatotoo ka!

And you will prosper, ala Digong.

Happy New Year!
