Politics without principles?

WE were impressed with the hakot-like assemblage of new PDP-Laban members led by Cumpadre Congressman Amado “Spines” Espino Jr. at the Sison Auditorium on Thursday.

We were not there, but our grapevine reports about an easy majority of elected officials—incumbent and former — who took their oaths of membership before Espino, after he was inducted as Pangasinan chapter president by national deputy chairman Sec. Alfonso Cusi.

The national chair is Sen. Koko Pimentel. President Digong Duterte must be its chairman emeritus.

Hmm… very visible ang mga Dagupan officials, present and past, na nandun, former Mayor Al Fernandez, Councilors Chito Samson and Nick Aquino and former Councilor Alfie Fernandez.

Wala si Vice Mayor Brian Lim?  Cannot be because he is NP.

Why do we ask about Brian?

Because the time has come too early for politics, stirring up speculations come next Dagupan elections.

Some politicians must be gearing up for a showdown with Mayor Belen Fernandez.

Not bad – but we tell you, if we know our President Digong, he is against our flawed political system. Masyadong ma-politika!

Duterte, a follower of Mahatma Gandhi, hates politics without principles.

Our neighbor says yong hakot-like new PDP-Laban convention reminds us of the KBL, Lakas, LP, NP days during  their days of political supremacy, when the president was  with the powerful political party.

Good luck na lang, mga igan, and may you not turn your back on the call of public interest, which should be the mandate or raison d e’tre of politics.

We dropped by the Dagupan SSS office last week and saw its yawning needs.

Under its head, Ms. Gloria Corazon Andrada, the office is making do with its limited space, facilities and manpower.

If fate smiles, we’ll try to introduce new systems and ideas to make it a vibrant and dynamic office.

The national office is under Lawyer Amado Valdez, a former Law Dean of U.E.

The SSS under Dean Valdez is in good hands.

If you are not looking, Christmas may just arrive without your knowing it.

Mukhang kunti ang Christmas music a … we miss the sound of Jingle Bells, Joy to the World, Ang Pasko ay Sumapit, White Christmas, etc.

What’s great news is for us in Dagupan that the hermano mayor, Councilor Dennis Canto, is mobilizing everything to ensure a successful Christmas celebration and city festival.

On opening day on Friday, Congressman Toff de Venecia and Bishop Soc Villegas joined Mayor Belen Fernandez to officially start the celebration, by lighting the Christmas Tree and a mass.

Dagupan is gifted with an enjoyable Christmas tradition, having a long almost a month-long festive celebration.

Walang tatalo sa atin sa bagay na yan. It’s known worldwide even by our kabaleyan abroad that we have the gayest, most frolicsome and memorable festival hereabouts.

We, Dagupenos, have a “notoriety” as a ciudad of over-hospitable Dagupenos.

Someone asks, bakit masaya ang Christmas under Mayor Fernandez?

Answer: She is not a Belen for nothing!

Notes: Congrats, Congressman Pol Bataoil, for your LNB basketball team as declared champion in the recent PCL basketball tournament province-wide.

                The team clobbered d teams from Districts 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Itanduro ang LNB Team sa probinsya!

Congressman   Bataoil, by the way, was the dancingest at the recent jam session dubbed Dance for a Cause formed by Dagupan police chief Neil Miro and the President Hotel of Atchi Mita.

We learned that that Pol was voted most outstanding solon in Region 1.

               Mabuhay ka, Pol

Speaking of basketball, we were jubilant, too, when our LNU Dukes shellacked its opponents in the inter-city games two weeks back.

Up with sports and youth development……

Did you know that the iconic actress Nora Aunor was in Lingayen last Thursday? She was greeted by FAMAS trustee Jun Velasco on her way to the Urduja Film Fest Awards at the Sison Auditorium.

Congrats to Rep. Spines, Dr. Perla Legaspi, Dr. Virge Pasalo and others as awardees of the Urduja Filmfest organized by Leo Fuente .
