Barangay officials should take drug test

THIS corner fully supports the resolution adopted by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan urging all barangay officials to take the drug test! The president of the Federation of  Liga ng mga Barangay herself, Board Member Jinky Zaplan, urged her fellow punong barangays and subordinates to take the drug testing since  they are considered “the living exemplar of the people” in their communities.

Add to that, the declaration of our President that the barangays, particularly the officials, are at the forefront in his ongoing crusade against illegal drugs. Will the public find the President’s call credible if the barangay officials themselves are the pushers and abusers of dangerous drugs? It is high time our barangay officials respond positively to the call of our provincial board and the clamor of the people!

The President is really showing his respect for our soldiers, they who risk their lives for the sake of our country’s security and safety of our people.  He even hosted a dinner for the 64 soldiers who are currently recuperating in the AFP General Hospital at the Heroes Hall of Malacanang. He also extended assistance to our heroes, aside from the almost P8 billion he promised to retirees and the families of soldiers who were wounded and killed in action during the ceremonies in commemoration of the National Heroes Day.

Maliban pa dyan, iniikot ni Pangulong Duterte ang military camps sa buong bansa para makasama at marinig ang hinaing at pangangailangan ng ating mga kawal. I think this is the first time in recent memory that a Chief Executive visited our military camps for that purpose alone. This only shows na hindi pinababayaan ng ating Pangulo ang mga tunay na bayani ng ating bansa!

What is this news about an assassination attempt on the President?

The PNP presented two persons caught involved in the smuggling of gun parts from United States to Bacolod City. One suspect revealed that the gun parts, if assembled, would count up to 100 M-16 rifles, and will be used by his unidentified client to assassinate the President!

Naloko na! It would seem far–fetched for some but I believe that there is really a threat against the President, dahil iyan sa walang tigil na ginagawang operasyon ng ating pamahalaan laban sa iligal na droga!

When the President went all out in his war against drugs, marami syang nasagasaang malaking tao. They might be leaders of big drug syndicates or politicians, even high–ranking but corrupt law enforcement officers who believe they could end their misery by ending the President’s life!
Siguro iniisip nila na sobrang minalas sila dahil naabutan sila ni Pangulong Duterte!

Kidding aside, this is a big challenge for the security detail of President Duterte, given his schedule and almost daily trips outside of the capital and to-and-fro Davao City. Minsan pa nga ay nakikihalubilo ang ating Pangulo sa mga ordinaryong mamamayan at kumakain sa kahit saang turu–turo! We have seen this habit of the President even during the campaign period!

Dapat listo palagi ang mga gwardya ng ating Pangulo dahil hawak nya ang kinabukasan nating mga Pilipino!

Everyone was shocked with the drug matrix that included the name of Congressman Amado “Spines” Espino, Jr. and other prominent personalities from our province.  Pero I think the President will give our kababayans, especially Congressman Spines, the opportunity to answer these accusations. These are indeed very grave accusations that can break a person’s integrity if left unanswered!
