FVR inspires

MANY Pangasinenses are admirers of former President Ramos, 88.

Why? Because, to borrow his own words, he is “still completing myself.”

He said so at the inauguration of FVR’s Library at the UPANG-PHINMA last Friday.

Mabuhay kayo, Sir FVR!

In a somber mood, we extend our condolences and prayers to the families of two friends—our law classmate at San Beda and fraternity brother former Dagupan City Vice Mayor Teddy Manaois who died Thursday, June 23.

Also, the family of Dr. Lucy Honrado, 74, who died last Wednesday.

Lucy was former president of Rotary Club of Uptown Dagupan.

            May they rest in peace!

While life has its sad side, it also has its happy side.

We greet former Mayor Al Fernandez on his 73rd birthday on June 14.

He along with University of Luzon president Macky Samson, is our regular “coffee mate” at Pedritos, 100 meters from our residence, along the Tapuac Highway.

In case you don’t know, Al is a quiet kingmaker of Dagupan and the Philippine Jaycees. He, too, was former chairman of the Bureau of Immigration.

Long live, Al!

From the grapevine, we learned that the Dagupan political situation is experiencing an unprecedented realignment of forces.

From where we are, we smell a sort of triumvirate as emerging in the ranks of Vice Mayor Brian Lim, Councilor Alfie Fernandez and comebacking Councilor Chito Samson.

Where is Mayor Belen Fernandez in the picture?

Hmmm… we won’t say anything muna. We are just giving you a tip, or in a romantic lingo, “slip of a woman’s skirt.”

Let’s take a peep, folks! Voyeurism is becoming fashionable these days, you know.

An unimpeachable informant says FVR impressed his UPANG-PHINMA audience with his witty and humorous punch lines.

Present at the UPANG-PHINMA event were UPANG Chair Ramon del Rosario who did a brilliant intro of FVR; sister Manang Letty R. Shahani and nephew Ranjit Shahani; our columnist Virgie Pasalo; UPANG president Chito Salazar; Pangasinan Heritage head Bel Arcinue, Marie Jacinto, scientist Jaime Imbat, councilor Vangie Dorao, former OWWA Administrator Beebong Soriano, former sec. Ben de Leon, journalists Jun Velasco, Mel Velasco, Minnie Caburnay, Alex Tulao, former Usec Brian Balingit and his erpat Albert of Landbank, Lyn Ang, and many others.
