Shall we cry if Duterte loses?

WHILE doing our Kabaleyan Channel radio work, we received several text messages that were focused on two things:

  1. Rudy Duterte and 2. The Lim and Bryan Kua withdrawals.

On Duterte, a texter asked, rather sarcastically,

Paano ka iiyak kung matalo si Duterte?

Frankly, we have been identified with the Davao mayor because of our regular item about him in this column and at Kabaleyan Channel.

Our reason, which most of you are privy about is that he, Rody Duterte, is our last card in seeing progress in this nation.

You all know that among the five presidentiables, he is the only one who is credible enough in finishing off criminality especially the frightening drug abuse issues.

Can anyone dispute that?

No progress in our nation will happen if criminality is not stopped. Can anyone deny that it is rampant nationwide? Our surprise is why do we seem to be apathetic when our very lives are in peril because of it?

Back to the texter who asked if we’d cry if Duterte, by any twist of fate, would lose?

Offhand, we just smiled.

But on second thought, we think we would cry.

We will cry for the families whose children would be victims of drugs. We would cry for the nation who will be victims of corruption, it’s so rampant already it we take it for granted.

In Dagupan, there’s a non-stop recital of melancholy as if the public lost a billion!

Why, you ask.

Kasi wala na ang pagkakakitaan!

Wala ng pakurong sa eleksyon.

The two main protagonists for mayor and vice mayor – Celia Lim and Bryan Kua – withdrew from the race! That leaves Belen Fernandez and Brian Lim unopposed!

OK, let’s grant patay nga ang demokrasya but progress will happen.

If you’ll recall, we’ve been proposing this setup months ago.

Joke ni Ms. Linda de Sola, may mga taga-Dagupan na magtra-transfer na sa Binmaley where pakurong is more exciting!

In our humble view, dapat mahinto na itong pakurong na ugali.

It’s blackening our image and culture!

Sana maibalik na ang dating two-party system – the LP-NP Affair.

Papaano, di wala ng take-home money? OK lang, so long as our honor and respectability are intact!

Think about it, folks!

There’s no doubt that the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital in San Carlos City has become a modern one, ala medical center.

Utang ng probinsya ito kay Gov. Espino, including the other provincial district and municipal hospitals.

For this fact alone, dapat itanduro si Gov!

We suggest that the next governor, whoever makes it, should carry on this stellar performance!

Health is wealth.

Alam na alam ni Gov. Espino yan.

And our provincemates are happy about it.
