The Marcelino case

BEBOT VILLAR

By Bebot Villar

THE administration should not allow the controversy involving Marine Lt. Col. Ferdinand Marcelino to be blown out of proportion!
To be fair with Director General Cacdac, Jr., I’ve known him since he became Provincial Director ng Pangasinan PNP. He’s a good man and certainly not the one to target anyone out of spite and without any basis.

According to Marcelino, he will go on hunger strike “until he regains his freedom.” Fine but he has a problem there.
His lawyer said the coplan cannot be made public because of the very confidential and sensitive information about the operation and the identity of the persons involved, particularly witnesses and places under surveillance.
Assuming that Marcelino was indeed involved in a legitimate anti – drug operation, he should have at least coordinated with the PDEA, the premiere anti–drug enforcer in the country, to prevent any miscommunication or “misencounter.”

Although the issue is under investigation by the Department of Justice, I think it is high time that the President intervenes. We cannot allow this single issue to affect negatively the operations and morale of our anti–drug crusaders. Who knows, baka may mas malaki pang isyu beyond Marcelino’s involvement?
Through it all, huwag natin isipin na lahat ng anti–drug enforcers natin ay involved in the illegal trade.

Grace Poe.
In my opinion, the four congressmen who are “officially or virtually unopposed” will make the difference for either Cojuangco or Espino since they have all the campaign for them. The turf of Cong. Kimi Cojuangco is an exception because she will be fighting Gov. Amado Espino for political supremacy in the 5th District.

Gaya nga ng sabi natin dati, imbes “choose the best answer” ay “all of the above” na ang pinili!
