THE RAP FOR DELAYED SALARIES. A college instructor in a government institution sent this corner a text message seeking help.

The message said their salary had been delayed for a month already in their various campuses. “We do not know why and what’s going on?,” the text sender said.

“And then last night (Nov. 11), there was fireworks display in our school for our Christmas lighting ceremony. It was long and for sure that was expensive,” it added.

“Mapanta yay school mi pero say sweldo na empleyado mabayag dan iter (Our school is boastful but it takes long before it gives salaries of its employees),” the information went on.

Due to this situation, the informant said some of their school’s instructors were absent as they had no more money for their transportation and meal expenses.

Mukhang mahirap pala pag may hitsura ang big boss nyo kasi maraming mga issues na lumalabas. Buti pa daw nung pangit pa ang chief nila, at least happy sila.

Well, Andrew E’s Humanap Ka ng Panget hitsong in 2002 might indeed be true, not only in love but also education-wise.

And the rap song goes a bit this way:

Ay naku kasi ano , ang hihilig kasi sa magagandang lalaki ……

O anong napala n’yo e ‘di wala
Kaya kung ako sa inyo
Makinig na lang kayo sa sasabihin ko
Humanahap ka ng pangit at ibigin mong tunay
‘Yan ang dapat mong gawin
Kaya makinig ka sa akin…..
Yo! Break it down!—Tita Roces

ESPINO’S ORGANIZATIONAL CLOUT.  The banner crowd that cheered Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo when she went to Lingayen last Wednesday to hold a dialogue with multi-sectoral groups of Pangasinenses, including barangay captains, no doubt, exceeded many times the crowd that welcomed Bongbong Marcos when he spoke before a Barangay Health Workers Congress in Urdaneta City a month ago.

That was a big show of force for Robredo in Pangasinan, so to speak, thanks to the hosts–Gov. Amado Espino Jr., Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil and their Partido na Pangasinan (PnP)–who made this happen. With the NRSCC gymnasium already filled to the rafters, tents were provided outside for those who could no longer be accommodated inside supported by mobile audiovisual van. Grabe, talaga!

Who else could assemble such a huge crowd in just very short notice except Gov. Espino himself. He boasts of time-tested organizations down to the barangay level which to this day, in our view, still remained unmatched, with apologies to all those salivating to succeed him.

Going back to Mrs. Robredo, I am confident that the wife of the late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo, must have been enthralled too by the warm welcome given by her huge army of welcomers in just her fourth visit to Pangasinan.

Pangasinenses will see more of her and her presidential runningmate Mar Roxas in the coming political campaign where they will rub elbows more not only with close allies Mayor Belen Fernandez of Dagupan and the three modern Pangasinan Urdujas–Reps. Gina de Venecia, Baby Arenas and Marlyn Agabas–as well as Rep. Bataoil.  Leonardo Micua
