The son also rises

Gonz-Duque1

LOOKING at beloved son Nanoy handle his job as coach of LNU Dukes, the new champ in basketball, recently besting UPang-Phinma in a championship duel, we reminisce the days he was still a gangling toddler!

Well, most of you who listen to Aksyon Radyo, have watched him grow and develop into a young intelligent, Christian leader and sportsman.

Before he accepted that coaching job, Nanoy wanted to know his players.

With the untimely demise of George Alipio, certain questions must have bothered him.

Why do players become spoiled, doing things that are out of line, later bringing them trouble.

Then through his own initiative, he sought the company of Christian athletes. In fact, with such in mind and heart — Nanoy joined us to a trip to Davao. He found more friends there. He realized – he told us – that to be successful one must have values, things that a young man should follow and aspire for.

It’s true in sports, too, he insisted; to lead one to live humbly. It was with this new self he discovered for himself that led to his becoming a better coach.

With that, the rest is history. He led the LNU Dukes to the finals and besting UPang Flames in a classic “battle royale.”

Congrats, son, you are really fit to a T as a proud father’s heir apparent!

The following is a true-to-life story.

For a long time, this columnist had a bothersome tooth problem.

They call it in the dialect “sungi´– a tooth that grew inward. This misalignment would trap the food causing bad breath.

According to dentists including the experts, the problem is not unusual… but bothersome indeed, causing kissing problems.

But the problem has been licked – now, this representation is “lickable.” Thanks to a superb lady dentist and her staff the likes of Nancy, Gwen, Marina, Sally, Lorna, Lea and others who after putting their heads together came out with the solution in a very classic way.

Hay, talo ang LNU dentist namin. Before we’d be advised to just gargle and wala na.

Now, we could say with utter confidence – we can now kiss anybody and we can be kissed by anybody!

And, mind you, nobody would regret the experience.

All we can say at this point is, “thank you, doktora! May your tribe increase!”

The healing, the treatment, which was undertaken with lots of love and care is beyond measure.

Now – it can be said without any mental reservation, we have close-up confidence for all time!

NOTES: The Philippines was at the center of the world with the recent APEC Summit that just ended. Star nga tayo – pero, maraming in-APEC-to tan ya Summit. There was bedlam and hell on our streets, Business for a while collapsed!

But, with its conclusion, let’s hope All Will Be Well! Back to normal – or abnormal?

Take your pick.
