PAGCOR’s help

BEBOT-VILLAR

By Bebot Villar

THE Dangerous Drugs Board’s (DDB) 43rd Anniversary celebration was graced by our “kababayan,” the amiable yet very humble PAGCOR Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Cristino “Bong” L. Naguiat as keynote speaker last Tuesday, November 24, 2015.

For the record, DDB has been fortunate to have PAGCOR’s support so we can be more effective in fulfilling our mandate. Since I assumed my post as DDB chairman, umabot na sa P345 million ang ibinigay sa DDB for the purpose of establishing and supporting rehabilitation centers in the country.  Pangasinan is one of the beneficiaries, particularly the Dagupan Rehabilitation Center in Bonuan Binloc, Dagupan City. PAGCOR’s funding assistance is mandated by R.A. 9165.

The DDB guarantees that all funding assistance it received are being utilized properly, including extending help to drug dependents who wish to be rehabilitated to start a new life.

We are grateful to PAGCOR through Chairman Naguiat for its regular support to DDB.  Maraming salamat din po sa Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Manila Jockey Club Inc., Philippine Racing Club at Metro Manila Turf Club, Inc. sa patuloy nilang suporta sa DDB!

Despite efforts of our law enforcers in Dagupan City, Brgy. Bonuan Binloc still tops among the heavily-drug infected barangays in the whole province.  Last week when Dagupan Police conducted a buy-bust operation near the area of the Dagupan Treatment and Drug Rehabilitation, it was a 13-year old boy from the same barangay who was arrested for selling shabu to a police undercover.

The parents look forward to a brighter future for their children by sending them to school ngunit kung sila ay maa-agaw lang ng sindikato, siguradong walang future ang mga bata.

Brgy. Bonuan Binloc is still known as the drug-haven in Dagupan City! Sigurado ako Mayor Belen Fernandez is not happy with this as it ruins the image of the progressive city. But I wonder what the barangay chairman is doing!

I hope that our voters have already learned their lessons.

Right-thinking residents of Brgy. Bonuan Binloc don’t even need to think twice who to vote for! No need for evaluation of his accomplishments because you can now see how he works and what he accomplished. Teka, maitanong ko lang, meron po ba??

What you see is what you get.

Congratulations to Sto. Tomas Mayor Timoteo “Dick” S.  Villar, III for a Special Award given by the Selection Committee of the DDB headed by Usec Edgar C. Galvante during the celebration of the 43rd Anniversary of the DDB.

Mayor Villar was acknowledged for his dedication and concern, effectively undertaking various anti-drug programs in his town particularly in activities involving the youth.

Tama ‘yan Mayor.
