NO TO KBL. Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was in Dagupan and Mangaldan on September 27 but he did not declare his candidacy for any position contrary to a news items that was circulated in Pangasinan even weeks prior in Manila.

BBM (Bongbong Marcos) said that if he’s going to make a declaration about his political plan for a higher position, the announcement should come from him personally, distancing himself from the group that reportedly made the announcement for him.

As a matter of fact, BBM said he had nothing to do with that news item that said he is going to announce his run for a higher office neither does he have any association with that group that made the announcement.

We understand that BBM was fuming mad for this and opted to hold a presscon at Matutina Restaurant for only a handful of newsmen in tow, instead of Trish Hotel in Mangaldan which, his staff said, was booked by a group and where some 100 newsmen will be in attendance.

BBM’s staff was amused. “Are you guys this big in the media?” BBM’s staff asked me. But before I can answer, he said, “Siguro, maraming haw-shaw”.

The truth is, BBM is a very calculating politician like his late father Ferdinand Marcos, the longest-serving president of the Philippines spanning some 20 years, and does not want to be identified with fellows who call themselves nationalists although have different agenda and objectives in mind.

He said he no longer identifies himself with the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL) a political party created by his father, saying that since 2009, he was already with the Nacionalista Party which at present is not the biggest but is the most cohesive among all the political parties hereabouts.- Leonardo Micua

THE SCHOOL ESCAPEES. This is to call the attention of the administration and faculty of the Dagupan City National High School (DCNHS). Some of your male students love to escape by climbing the high steel gate behind the school connecting the compound of the People’s Astrodome.

I’ve seen this many times and I pity the parents and guardians of these boys.

At around 9 a.m. during school days, these escapees would start to climb, one by one, the high steel gate and gleefully jump landing at the front area of the GSP office, beside the Comelec office, at the Astrodome.

The last time I saw them escape was Thursday (Oct. 1) as I parked my ride in front of the Comelec office. I counted them as they jumped one after the other. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven until I got tired counting. There must have been some 20 boys that skipped school that time alone.

When I narrated this account to my media colleagues, they said their teachers probably couldn’t care less if not even happier. Less students, less headache.

“But what about their parents or guardians. What if these students meet accident during their escape?” I asked.

Can the DCNHS administration do something about this?. – Tita Roces
