MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS. Who is paying for the electric and water bills of Bayambang Central School in its temporary location from Poblacion to Barangay Bical?

The municipal government, the one behind the school’s temporary transfer, amid strong protests, cannot do so as the place is privately owned. The Department of Education is also not allowed to use the school’s Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses.

We learned in one of our earlier visits to the school that it was Mayor Calixto Camacho who shouldered the bill after the school’s electric and water supplies were cut for its unpaid dues. Personal funds ni mayor ang ginamit, I suppose.

But I wonder again who has been paying the past several months? Masakit sa bulsa yan. Kung monthly na lang may extrang malaking babayaran! Dapat hating kapatid sa pagbayad sa gastos sina mayor at kung sino pang mga starring na pumayag sa relocation na yan.

The longer the case drags on, payments will continue to pile up.

Meanwhile, will the Cenpelco or the local water district have the temerity to cut energy/water supply of the school again? It must do so to show that after all is fair, no one is spared. Kung residential, alisto pa kayo sa alas kuwatro mag-putol ng serbisyo!

I also wonder what the Municipal Engineering Office has done to solve the problem raised about the stagnant water in the old school site that reportedly resulted in dengue cases among school kids. Intentionally left undone? Tsk tsk tsk!

What’s funny is, the municipal doctor, in a recent forum, admitted that there were only two dengue cases recorded in the school during the period pressure by influential people to relocate the school by hook or by crook. Hindi pa nga sila sigurado if the two dengue cases were originated from the school or somewhere else.

Remember, there’s gold in the old school site. Just check its value and you will know why I say so.  There’s also still the “temporary relocation” issue. It simply means it’s not permanent, hindi siya forever.

TO SUE OR NOT TO SUE— If you are called “bugok” (rotten) and “estupido” (stupid) in your face in front of the public and you refuse to do anything, it is either that you are afraid of your tormentor because of his affluence and influence or you just want things to pass and leave it all to God.

It was the latter that Municipal Engineer Eddie Melicurio chose to take rather than attempt to do a remake of the battle between David and Goliath since former Fifth District Mark Cojuangco is a rich and powerful man who aims to become the highest official in the province.

When we asked him if he plans on suing his accuser for what was done to him, in front of his own townmates, Melicurio stressed he would rather forget and forgive and leave it all to God, saying in front of some other media men “let God take care of Mr. Cojuangco”.

With that position taken by the victim, our fellow mediaman Jojo Rinoza who joined the press conference in Bayambang (presided over by Mayor Ric Camacho) was disappointed.

In his opinion, it would have been a bigger news in local and national media if Melicurio said he would go to court to seek justice for the wrong done to him before his own people, if, indeed, it was true that the former congressman made those uncalled for remarks against him. We agree. – Leonardo Micua
