THOSE EVIL MINDS – Now that Manay Gina has spoken, we hope the rumor being spread around that she and Mayor Belen will clash in the “Battle of the Titans” in 2016 polls must now die down.

Only people with evil minds would float such a dirty tactic to drive a wedge between Gina and Belen whose partnership became as solid as ever since they entered politics.

Both were not born yesterday not to comprehend on who will benefit if they fight and tear each other apart.

But Gina is set to run reelection in the district to complete her term while Mayor Belen will, of course, seek reelection. Both will run under the Liberal Party.

The two, we believe, are unbeatable come 2016 election. It is not remote too, according to some people we had a talk to, that because of their good performances, they may not face any challenger at all.

Incidentally, the presence of Manay as well as of former Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr., their son Christopher and their staff during the State of the City Address (SOCA) of Mayor Belen is proof they support the mayor to the hilt. – Leonardo Micua

IMITATING TITA– Once again, we have proven that pen is mightier than the sword, as aptly said by novelist and playwright Edward Bulwer-Lytton in 1839, in his play Richelieu, or The Conspiracy.

Some propagandists play on words and pay hundreds of thousand pesos-worth blocktime program monthly just to send their message across—either to deodorize the odorous image of their patrons or to project evil image of their bosses’ enemies. Pero wa epek pa rin sila. Sayang ang pera at oras, sayang ang laway nila sa kadadakdak.

Modesty aside, this corner, even with only few sentences allotted space once a week, has gained big following here and abroad. Oh, I must thank you all, for our high readership ratings – whether you are happy or disgusted, with what we write in this section.

Some journalists are trying to duplicate our style here. We should be glad because imitation is the greatest form of flattery, we are told. I am tempted to recite Lavinia’s famous line in Bituing Walang Ningning movie: “You’re nothing but a second rate, trying hard copy cat!” But no, they, too, are our fans, so thank you!

For now, here’s a thought to ponder: This happened immediately after the 2013 elections. A reporter interviewed the son of an influential Pangasinan official who was elected as mayor.

Reporter: Sir, please share with me few information about yourself like your educational background like what school you graduated from, your age, etc.

Elected Mayor (Son of Pulitiko): Pwede po bang huwag na lang banggitin yung sa education? Secret na lang po yun.

Reporter (to herself): Ngeek, may ganun? Secret kung saan grumadweyt?Tita Roces
