TIMELY BONUS. Congratulations to the deserving employees of the city government whom the city will honor with a milestone anniversary bonus in the amount of P7,000. The bonus could not have come at a better time than next month, just in time for the opening of classes on June 1.

It is what one can call better late than never as the financial bonanza was supposed to have been given to them as early as June 20, 2012 when Dagupan celebrated its 65th year of cityhood.

But for reasons known only to the past city administration, this was not given till Mayor Belen Fernandez, City Administrator Farah Decano and Executive Assistant IV  Jocelyn Ibaan noted the failure of the past officials to reward the Dagupan employees. The three worked out the payment of the bonus with Malacanang.

The Office of the President not only approved the grant of the milestone bonus to employees but made them happier by increasing their entitlement from P3,000 to P7,000 each! – LEONARDO MICUA

 

HUMILITY VS. HUBRIS. This leader whose town has received numerous awards for many years now on cleanliness was so disheartened he is now avoiding to see a fellow official with a higher rank. Never again, enough is enough, he said with a very sad face.

There had been several incidents when this leader was humiliated by this higher official in front of many fellow local chief executives. This reporter was witness to one of the embarrassing incidents between the two. Unsavory remarks were said by the elder and higher official against this town leader. If I were a daughter of this humiliated official, I would definitely cry an ocean.

Yet this town leader still continued to give due respect to this higher official.

But the last straw that broke the camel’s back was when the town leader received his awards recently outside Pangasinan. Out of respect, he sent his staff to tell the program emcee that he wants two other higher officials present (who were there, too, for a separate award), one of them is the cause of his heavy heart, to be acknowledged and join him to receive the awards.

“Pero nung tinawag yung pangalan namin tapos nag sabi ako kay _____to join us, he gestured his hand na pagalit pa, na parang itinataboy kami, to tell us kami na lang tumanggap ng award. Kaya pati yung kasama nyang isa pang opisyal, hindi na rin sumama,”  he said with very sad eyes.

He said he just wanted to show respect but his efforts were in vain.

The two belong to different political fences but the higher official known to many us bengatibo (vindictive) could hardly hide his feelings. Remember, everything has its end, sir, including the powers you have now.
