Let’s have a solemn Holy Week!

IT’S graduation time, folks!
Ok ngarud…smiling, beamings faces lalo na sa mga parents, mga aunties, uncles, kuyas, ates, kanayon, mga pinsan.
Happy graduation sa inyong lahat!
Tayong nasa edukasyon, feel na feel natin ang damdamin ng mga kababayan sa mga araw na ito. We too, feel triumphant dahil nakatulong tayo sa education of the people.
But in a serious mode, tekayo, mga igan.
Did you bother to consider what lies ahead?
Hmm…naka-toga si Bugoy at si Zeny.
Smiles, click, click, click ang mga fotographers.
Ang masaklap nito, pagdating sa bahay, after the partying…ganon a? Quo Vadis, graduates?
Ni amta yo, ilang taon na nating nakikita ang ganitong happy scenes…but ang kasunod nito, sad, problematic scenes. Papaano po, ang mga nag-gradweyt, naka-focus sa abroad…trabajo or jobs sa Saudi, sa Hong Kong, Saipan, kung saan na malayo sa ating bansa. Papaano, walang job dito. Alaws, mga kawawang kababayan.
Wala sana tayong objections sa jobs overseas. Kaya lang, nakakabahala ang “social cost” nito. Ang daming pamilya ang nasisira dahil sa kasong ito.
Recently, we read in the papers that the all-powerful USA is in need of 13,000 doctors. Ang impact nito, ang daming gustong mag-aral ng medicine. Naalala natin ang yumaong nating ama.
Nang siya ay bagong doctor, he started an indigency program in the province. He went to the remote villages to give the rural folk access to modern health care. These activities reached President Magsaysay who awarded him a national citation. Because of this, our dear father—the late Dr. Francisco Q. Duque Jr.,– became popular he became a Pangasinan governor and later, secretary of health. Paco’s vision was for Filipino doctors to serve in their country.
What? Walang pera, walang asenso dito?
That, dear readers, is the issue.
Kailangan natin ang Presidente na marunong mag-resolve sa ating mga problema.
Nengneng yo. Grabe so electricity or power cost. Building infra is also super expensive. Ang ating gobyerno walang maibigay na incentive sa mga entrepreneur. Pagkatapos, grabe ang red tape sa gobyerno.
Ay talagang ang sakit ng ulo ng ating mga lider. So if we can produce another the likes of Magsaysay or si FVR, may pag-asa.
In education, yong K+12 na po politicized.
And then, if you look and discern enough, ang mga proponents ay na bla blanko sa implementation proper. Mabuti sana kung lahat ng mga eskwelahan ay nasa urban areas!
Hindi e, marami ang nasa bundok!
Ang mga nag-aaral ay nasa silong ng punong kahoy—papaano ey?
May mga palaisipan na na-klarify ko kay Sir Willie Buenaventura, who came over as representative of Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, he who strongly objected to the K-12 system. Sabi niya, fortunately, the senator set a condition in the law that the K+12 will be subjected to a thorough review in 2016.
Hopefully, may pag-asa na ma-correct pa ito for the benefit of our students and parents. The system, with all its supposed noble intentions, is fraught with an impractical system. Magulo na magastos pa! Siguro it’s time ipagdasal nating maigi na tama ang tinatahak ng ating mga liders. Perfect timing because it’s Holy Week!
Mag-isip-isip, mag-contemplate at magdasal kayo ng masimuon po. Turn your confusion and problems to God who will clarify and illumine our thoughts.
